Not every expat is a businessman who wears a suit and tie every day. Take Gaelle (26) from Wevelgem, Belgium, for instance. Four years ago, she graduated from university and immediately started working as an UX- designer. At first in her hometown, but soon enough she dreamt of moving abroad: nowadays she designs interfaces for apps that warn for flooding in her new home in Thailand. 

“I didn’t think twice about moving abroad. For me it’s important to have an impact on the people around me and at the same time be able to travel the world. When the opportunity arose to move to Thailand for this project, I didn’t hesitate. In the beginning, my parents were not happy but thanks to our smartphones we soon enough realized that we talked to each other even more than when I was still living in Belgium.
